The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ecuador confirmed on Tuesday the murder of four minors who were detained by the military police after their bodies were found in Taura.
This heartbreaking news comes after the children were kidnapped on December 8 in Guayaquil, generating a wave of outrage and pain in the country.
Forensic genetic tests confirmed that the bodies found belonged to three teenagers and a child who disappeared during a military operation.
The correspondent of teleSUR in Ecuador, Elena Rodríguez, expressed her dismay when she reported that the country closes 2024 with news that is “painful, chilling, and terrifying.”
In her statement, Rodríguez highlighted the brutality of the case, denouncing that the minors were not only raped and handcuffed but also suffered a second attack on social networks, where they were disqualified and accused of being thieves. “Neither forgiveness nor forgetfulness. Justice!” she cried.
The echo of grief is felt by the affected families, who have decided to keep a watchful eye until all the facts related to this case are clarified.
The mothers and fathers of the children have expressed their deep sadness and frustration at the situation, recalling that their children were taken from their arms by military forces.
